Stimulating Adaptation of Business Management Strategies in Zambia’s Agriculture Sector, During and Post The Covid-19 Challenge, Through Innovations Driven by the Media

An outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has rapidly spread across the world, devastating lives and livelihoods. From the snapshot survey conducted by Musika, there is sufficient evidence that COVID-19 outbreak in Zambia will have, and is already having, significant negative effects on people along the food supply chain – from producers to processors, marketers, transporters and consumers.

Therefore, establishing clear and effective crisis management processes and strategies is essential to ensure continuity of the critical food supply chain in these trying times. These strategies can be centred on the effective use of the Media by agribusinesses along the food supply chain to reach out to its clientele as a means to navigate this crisis, now that our traditional metrics and assumptions have been rendered irrelevant.

In order to achieve this, Musika, through this challenge fund window, is able to support, catalyse and stimulate  early stage investments by both the private and public Zambian media houses in testing, developing and scaling up an innovative agriculture media platform to be utilised by Musika supported partners implementing interventions along its four key thematic markets (Agricultural Technology, Agriculture Diversification Business and Finance , Biotechnology and Environment ), including  other key stake holders  such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture and research institutions.

Private and public for-profit Zambian media companies interested in partnering with Musika in this initiative are requested to develop and submit a short concept note to Musika no later than 17:00hrs on Friday, June 26th, 2020. For details click HERE
